Lever espresso machines have come a long way in over a century of existence, and today's ones are a foot away from their predecessors in design and performance. Yet it's not true that you can simply buy pretty much any espresso machine and enjoy a premium cup of beverage.
Choose carefully, get advice from the experts and accept that a lever espresso machine, unable to account for the coarseness of the grind or the time it takes for the water to flow through the coffee, simply won't make a great espresso. You simply need adequate equipment and knowledge to make real espresso.
Although coffee beans arrived in Europe in the 17th century and grew rapidly in popularity, the now-popular espresso had to wait until the early 20th century to be born. A strong black coffee prepared by applying intense pressure of hot water to ground coffee beans, espresso was first brewed by Italian merchant Luigi Bezzera.
The original lever espresso machine was called the "Fast Coffee Machine" and is unfortunately nowadays associated not so much with the name of the original inventor as it is with the iconic figure Desidero Pavoni, who bought the rights to make the so-called "fast coffee machine" from Bezzera and immediately patented everything. We also offer modern Pavoni products and you can't go wrong with buying them. They still hold on to the original design from the 1950s and have become a true legend among coffee machines, not only within the Italian provenance, but worldwide.
