Many coffee lovers and coffee makers are opposed to any flavouring of a beverage whose natural flavour they seek out and consider to be absolutely perfect. They are undoubtedly right and will not combine the typical taste of coffee with other flavourings in any way.

But there are not a few who indulge in flavored coffee from time to time, or even quite regularly.

How to flavour coffee?

Most commonly, coffee flavors are offered in the form of.

And you'll have plenty of flavours to choose from, with the most popular ones outside of milk or Alpro alternatives definitely including: vanilla, caramel, salted caramel, coconut, pistachio and pumpkin.

Besides the specific flavor, however, you should also look at whether the product contains sugar or artificial sweeteners. This is a crucial factor in determining whether you're going to have a calorie-bomb coffee or a drink that doesn't mess with your energy intake.

There are flavours with zero calories and zero sugars. Alternatively, some syrups are extremely low-calorie, so you'll see from the label that there are only 5 kcal in 100g.

So it's up to you to what extent you are dealing with calorie intake (weight loss) or if you need to avoid sugar for health reasons (diabetes). There is also an option for those who don't like so-called empty calories and would also like to avoid artificial sweeteners...

Give spices a chance

A variety of spices can add an interesting flavour to coffee, without having to worry about the calorie content. In fact, the spices do not weigh down the resulting drink in this respect.

Try cinnamon or cardamom, vanilla bean or ginger are also great, and you can even buy special coffee spices containing cinnamon, cardamom, allspice and cloves. Just add a pinch to a hot drink and you'll see how the aroma of the spices blends beautifully with the aroma of the coffee.
