Coffee Story:
Café Monteverde is a cooperative of 250 smallholders from the Rodriguez de Mendoza region of the Amazonas in Peru. The farm Finca Timbuyacu is considered a teaching farm by its founders Alfonso Tejada and Karen Araoz. Here, members of the cooperative can learn a number of important practices, such as cultivation and processing methods, which they can then use to improve the quality of the upcoming harvest.
Technology:
The capsules are made from natural wood fibers combined with PLA, a lactic acid-based bioplastic. In other words, no aluminium, no fossil plastics, no microplastics. The wood fibers are obtained from residual sawdust from sustainably harvested forests (PECF certified). PLA, which is 100% organic-based, allows the wood fibers to be formed into coffee capsules.
The capsules have received DIN certification in the highest category with a test result of"100% organic" from renewable sources.

Compatibility with coffee machines
Our capsules are compatible with the most popular original NESPRESSO machines for private households.
We have successfully tested the capsules in all machines sold after 2012. If you have an older machine (e.g. the "ESSENZA" model series) or are unsure of compatibility, please contact us anytime at roastery@theminers.eu.
