Grinder Kaffia MOVE PRO

One downside is the plastic fasteners. (The plastic clips that attach the motor to the grinder.) After reading the reviews, I knew this could happen, so I was pretty careful, but it still broke off. Otherwise, it’s the best grinder at a great price. I’ll file a complaint, but I’ll buy the same one again—maybe this one will last.

I bought the grinder as a gift. As the owner of a Comandante grinder, I have to admit that I was surprised by the quality of the craftsmanship. The grinder is all-metal; the grinding mechanism’s shaft is mounted on bearings, and the conical grinding burrs are all-metal with a titanium nitride coating—which, in my opinion, are the most important features for a high-quality manual grinder. Adjusting the grind is simple, and the adjustment increments are finer than on my Comandante. The grinder has an electric motor with its own rechargeable battery and, of course, a hand crank, which can come in handy if the battery runs out. The motor feels just as high-quality as the grinder itself. The weak point is the plastic bayonet-style clips used to attach the motor to the grinder. This requires handling with care and without applying force; otherwise, they’ll snap off, as mentioned in other reviews. It would be helpful to add position markers to the grinder body to indicate when the mechanism is locked and unlocked. The grinder is quite heavy, so I wouldn’t take it in my backpack on a hike, but it will be a great companion in a car or RV. I’m convinced it can grind coffee for espresso as well, so it will be a great addition to travel coffee makers like the Outin or Wacaco for those who don’t want to crank a handle.

For the first time in four months, a successful warranty claim—see my earlier review. But the overall performance, battery life, (lack of) noise, and power—it’s fantastic compared to, say, the ECG 150 mini. The price reflects that. So I decided to give it a second chance and bought it again. Maybe the manufacturer will finally realize that all it takes is fixing a single flaw, and it’ll be a really great electric grinder for travel. We’ll see in another four months :-)

As for the product, it’s truly elegant, with high-quality craftsmanship, and the ground coffee is great. Unfortunately, the three plastic locking tabs on the motor housing soon cracked; pieces fell into the coffee beans—some got ground up, while others stopped the grinding mechanism. Unless a Czech DIYer fixes it by drilling, rethreading, or gluing, the grinder can only be used in manual mode—and that doesn’t justify the price. If I were really mean, I’d call this grinder a piece of junk.

Well, unfortunately, the co-reviewer was right... The mounts on the grinder body have worn out. The grinder still works perfectly, but if you don't grip it properly, it falls apart and won't "lock" into place. I’d appreciate a replacement part—a metal one this time. I don’t really want to file a complaint—for one thing, as I said, it works well, and for another, it’s indispensable :-)

It's a real beauty :-) It looks like China isn't just making low-quality copies anymore. The handle is pretty clunky, but I don't really feel like using it unless it's absolutely necessary. It's precision-crafted—it's really worth the money.

It’s absolutely great for travel and such. The grinding mechanism looks high-quality for the price. The range of grind sizes and adjustment levels is more than sufficient. It’s one of the few in its category that can even grind for espresso. It does what it’s supposed to. The questions are battery life and how the electric motor is attached to the grinder body (just like the handle for manual grinding, the drive mechanism for refilling coffee must be removed—which will cause wear on the mounting points). The price-to-performance ratio is unbeatable.
