The Ethiopian portion of the blend comes from the Hambela area in the Guji region, one of Ethiopia’s highest-altitude coffee-growing areas. The cooler climate slows the ripening of the coffee cherries, which results in greater sweetness and a more pronounced fruity character. This is where the sweet and juicy notes reminiscent of wild berries come from.

The Kenyan component comes from the Mugaya washing station in the Kirinyaga area on the slopes of Mount Kenya. Coffee here is supplied by hundreds of small-scale farmers who cultivate their crops on fertile red volcanic soil. Kirinyaga is one of Kenya’s most famous coffee-growing regions and is prized above all for its clean, distinctive, and juicy flavor profiles.

Both coffees are processed differently. The Ethiopian coffee undergoes a dry process, in which whole coffee cherries are sun-dried. The result is greater sweetness, a fuller body, and pronounced fruitiness. The Kenyan coffee is processed using the washed method, which highlights the purity of flavor, fresh acidity, and clear structure. Combining these two styles creates a balanced blend in which sweetness and fruitiness complement the fresh and clean characteristics of the Kenyan coffee.
