Guatemala is another Central American country from which we bring what many consider to be some of the best coffee in the world. Agriculture is the main source of income for the vast majority of the people there and the most important crop grown is coffee. Coffee is grown in 8 different areas and therefore at different altitudes. As a result, the coffee from each area has a slightly different taste.
Origin of coffee: Guatemala Trés Maria coffee comes from the Huehuetenango region. It is one of the 3 non-volcanic regions. Huehuetenango is the highest and driest of them all. The region is the most temperate, and is protected from frost by the warm, dry winds that flow in from the hot plains of the Tehuantepec Neck in Mexico. Coffee is mostly grown at an altitude of around 2000 metres above sea level.
Taste: The taste of Guatemalan coffee is perfectly balanced, with a pleasant mild acidity reminiscent of ripe tropical fruit. The flavour is complemented by a pleasant floral aroma with a hint of vine. It stands out above all for its full, sweet taste.
