Atunkaa Sugarcane Decaf from Colombia is a decaffeinated coffee that tastes like the best "caffeinated" coffee. In an espresso cup, it offers a rich and sweet profile with notes of raspberry, maple syrup and black tea with lemon. Added to that is a full syrupy texture and juicy fruitiness that make this coffee perfect for an everyday cup - even in the evening.
The coffee comes from the Piendamó region of Cauca, Colombia, where it is grown by farmers from the ACC (Association for Peace in Central Cauca) cooperative. This project was set up to provide communities with a stable and legal income and to promote the production of quality coffee. The coffee is prepared for export by Siruma, an organisation dedicated to fair purchase prices and transparency.
The washed processing is followed by natural decaffeination using the sugarcane decaf method, where the caffeine is removed using ethyl acetate from the sugarcane rather than chemically synthesised substances. As a result, the coffee retains its complex flavour, pure character and pleasant sweetness.
