The coffee is sourced from the Kindeng Mill farm in Jikawa Province, Papua New Guinea. It is a blend of coffee purchased in cherry trees from about 1,500 small producers in the Kindeng and Arufa villages. The cherries are processed using a natural method and dried on African beds and screens for an average of 1 month. The coffee is then packed, stored in dry warehouses, peeled, ground and prepared for export.
Naturally processed coffees from Papua New Guinea are rare. Agriculture in the Western Highlands accounts for 20% of the country's total production. Papua New Guinea is a unique country where most coffee production takes place on small family farms of 1-2 hectares. Cafe Imports works with local partners to source exceptional coffees and support the development of programs to improve coffee production and producer relations.
