From the beginning, Jhon Alvarado and his wife Katthya Fonseca have run their family farm with the goal of delivering quality, premium coffee. Their farm is located near the highest mountain in Costa Rica, Chirripó, where the soil and weather conditions are excellent. At first they bought only a small plot of land here, but gradually acquired more land until, through a lot of effort and hard work, they achieved a reputation for producing great quality coffee.
New ideas, visions and technologies to improve the quality of the coffee have helped Jhon and Katthya's children, who have inherited their parents' dedication and passion for coffee. The entire family is committed to growing coffee in a sustainable way that also contributes to the conservation of Costa Rica's water and nature.
At the El Salitre farm, the best cherries are selected for processing, washed to remove the pulp, allowed to rest overnight, and then dried on African beds. El Salitre Coffee Farm's washing process is one of the best Costa Rica has to offer.
El Salitre is a beautifully sweet coffee that is perfect for long sips and impresses especially with its honeyed tropical flavour.
