Kaffia
When making espresso, you can use a paper filter to catch some of the fine coffee particles and make cleanup easier after extraction. Kaffia filters are disposable and designed for use with a filter basket of the appropriate diameter.
Use When Making Espresso
You can place the filter under the coffee puck, where it helps trap fine particles. Alternatively, you can place it on top of the puck as a paper barrier between the coffee and the coffee machine’s shower head. After use, remove the filter and discard it.
Before use, verify that the filter size matches the specific portafilter. Its diameter may vary depending on whether you measure at the bottom or the top edge, so the diameter specification alone may not always be sufficient.
How to Use the Filter
- Select a filter that matches the dimensions of the basket.
- Place it under the coffee puck or, if necessary, on top of it.
- Prepare the espresso as usual and remove the filter after extraction.
Important Information
A paper filter does not replace a metal portafilter and does not eliminate the need for regular cleaning of the lever or the espresso machine. It can contribute to a cleaner cup and make it easier to remove coffee grounds, but the result also depends on the portafilter used, the coffee, and the preparation method.
