We were clearly impressed by the Bialetti Rainbow Moka Pot. The quality workmanship is obvious at first sight and touch, and if you want to brighten up your kitchen with beautiful colours, the Rainbow is perfect for that.
If you are wondering who is behind the "little man with a moustache" you see on every model, it is the likeness of Alfonso Bialetti, who invented the moka pot in 1933. He simply wanted to differentiate his products, so why not his character :-)
The Bialetti Rainbow is made of polished food-grade aluminium and the comfortable handle is made of plastic. Aluminum cookware tends to be unpopular, but in this case it's not out of place. The inside of the coffee maker will become coated with a patina after time of use, and soak up the taste of the coffee. It is this flavour and the simplicity of the whole unit that makesbialettes so popular worldwide.
