The Las Crucitas area is located 32 kilometres southeast of the capital Guatemala City. It covers an area of more than 113 hectares. Of this, 90 hectares are dedicated to coffee production and the remaining 23 hectares are a forest reserve where trees and natural vegetation thrive.
The coffee from this area has twice won the Illy Award and has been listed in the Specialty Coffee Association of America's Q-Awards Guatemala. This is mainly due to the quality of the soil and the microclimate itself: clay and mineral composition of the soil with high potassium content and ash from the Pacaya volcano. The result is a full-bodied and delicious-tasting coffee with the 'Strictly Hard Bean coffee' label, a designation that ensures that the coffee was grown at an altitude above 1,350 metres above sea level and that the beans were hand-sorted.

It's also an excellent coffee, just like Trés Maria. To me, the coffee-chocolate flavor is a bit less pronounced. But it's still excellent. I'll try it with water heated to 96 degrees, too.

A very tasty coffee (lots of pleasant, slightly sweet flavors) that’s also gentle on the tongue, without causing any stomach discomfort. My girlfriend, who doesn’t drink coffee but will at most take a sip of mine while I’m making it (to make sure it’s properly balanced), made an exception for this one and is happy to have a small cup herself. Plus, since we usually drink this coffee with sugar, we both agreed after tasting it that it’s drinkable even without sugar (it’s worth trying for anyone looking to cut back on sugar).
Superb coffee
A coffee with a pleasantly balanced flavor that I buy regularly for my Aeropress. It’s delicious even without milk or sugar :).
