What does The Miners roaster say about this coffee?

Bernard Uwitije, owner of Bwenda Station , is a native of southern Rwanda, Nyamagabe District. Hailing from an area where coffee is a key crop, he initially began trading in commodity coffee. He discovered its added value later. With the idea of sustainability and providing small growers with more options when buying cherries, he set up a washing station near his hometown in 2016. Bwenda, which he founded in 2018, was his third station. The station was primarily intended to serve several surrounding small growers, who were isolated far from the surrounding stations and thus did not have the opportunity to have their harvest processed well. For Bwenda, 2019 was a pilot year, and only one container of cherries was processed throughout the harvest. During the harvest season, farmers bring the cherries to a washing station where the cherries continue to be sorted. They are then peeled and left to ferment overnight until the pulp is sufficiently separated to remove it completely. As soon as the cherries are washed away, they travel further through the water channels, which are used for further sorting. Eventually, they spread out on raised African beds where they dry for the next 10-14 days, depending on the weather.
