What does The Miners roastery say about this coffee?

Bernard Uwitije, the owner of Bwenda Station, is a native of Nyamagabe District in southern Rwanda. Hailing from an area where coffee is a key crop, he initially started trading in commodity coffee. He discovered its added value later. With the idea of sustainability and giving smallholders more options in buying cherries, he set up a washing station near his hometown in 2016. Bwenda, which he established in 2018, was his third station. The station was primarily meant to serve a few nearby smallholders who were isolated far away from the surrounding stations and thus had no opportunity to have their harvests well processed. For Bwenda, 2019 was a pilot year and only one container of cherries was processed during the entire harvest. During the harvest season, farmers bring their cherries to the washing station where they continue to be sorted. They are then peeled and left to ferment overnight until the flesh is sufficiently separated to be removed completely. Once the cherries have been washed, they pass through water channels for further sorting. Finally, they are spread out on raised African beds where they dry for the next 10-14 days depending on the weather.
