Producer:

Mustefa Abakeno farms in the Jimma region near Agaro and is renowned for his innovative approach to growing fine coffee. In 2018, he obtained an export license and established the Beshasha processing station, where he processes not only his own crop but also the coffee of local farmers. Through precise harvesting, fermentation and drying, his coffees stand out for their exceptional quality and complex profile with notes of ripe fruit and flowers. In addition, Mustefa supports sustainable agriculture and actively contributes to the development of the farming community in the region.

Processing:

Mustefa uses a small depulper to remove the skins and pulp during washed processing. Due to the limited amount of water and space , the coffee is fermented for only a short time, approximately 8 hours, and then dried for 13-16 days depending on the weather. The result is a coffee with a character reminiscent of the honey method. Beshasha processes not only its own crop at the station, but also coffee from neighbouring farmers with plantations of 4 to 10 hectares. With growing demand, he opened a second station, Kabira, in 2020, focusing on natural and anaerobic processing.

Variety:

Traditional Ethiopian varieties ("Heirloom") are grown in this area, growing under the shade of trees. They are valued for their rich flavour and their ability to adapt to local conditions. Thanks to the altitude of 2150-2200 m above sea level, the local coffee trees produce beans with a distinctive and unique flavour profile.
