Coffee roasted every week

Wonderfully fresh Ethiopia with which you will be pleasantly surprised by its lightness and no less sweetness! On the palate you will find distinctive notes of peach, fresh orange and a pleasant sweetness of honey.

The Nano Challa cooperative was founded in 2004 by 25 farmer members from the town of Agaro in the Jimma zone, Oromia, western Ethiopia. The founding members formed the group to promote unity and to be able to participate in solving the problems they faced in finding good buyers for their coffee. The name Nano Challa in Oromifa means "the area above", a reference to their world-class coffee farming at high altitude, benefiting from beautiful natural forests and rich organic soils. The Nano Chally property was boosted in 2010 when they were selected as part of the Technoserve Coffee Initiative along with other remote farming communities in Jimma, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Technoserve provided technical assistance and training to producer groups and helped coordinate agronomists and business advisors to help improve coffee quality. The impact of this initiative has been tremendous, as it has helped cooperatives like Nano Challa transition from natural cherry processing to wet processing through the construction of washing stations. In fact, Nano Challa was one of the first washing stations to be built in the area under the leadership of Technoserve, along with Yukro and Duromina. Since 2010, Nano Challa's membership has grown to more than 400, and thanks to the quality improvements launched with Technoserve, the cooperative's coffees have become some of the best and most sought-after in the entire country. This has led to a radical improvement in the livelihoods of farmers and their families in the region. The farmer members grow coffee at altitudes between 1,850 and 2,100 metres and each farmer has an average of around 3 hectares of land.

As is the case throughout Ethiopia, most of the coffees grown locally are organic by default and consist mostly of old, naturally native heritage varieties.
